If you’re like me, you’re a 20 something with a resume that has been described as “random” or “confused” but you’re still doing your best to make it look like you know what you’re doing. So you help out at every family party and when a friend asks for a favor you always say yes, you try not to wander out of the house looking like a homeless-lady (unless you’re going out to get coffee) and you answer the phone whenever someone calls. Is this making sense to you? If not, let me explain it in a way that makes sense to people that have had more than 6 hours of sleep.
If you feel like your life isn’t “going anywhere” then you and I have a lot in common. Whether it’s a lack of motivation, being dealt a bad hand or making some mistakes along the way, I know what you’re feeling.
Someway, somehow (hopefully from reading this) you’ll receive this “burst” of motivation. Do not waste it. Yes your inbox needs to be cleaned out or your shower needs a good scrubbing, but don’t catch yourself falling for this. You need to do something useful! Whether it’s researching going back to school, updating your resume, or searching for a new job (and applying for it) you need to think about what is most pressing in your life that will make a big impact! I am a horrible waster of the times when I get that surge of energy that makes me feel like I can accomplish anything.
Don’t be like me. I’ve been working very hard and it seems like I have to use half of that energy just to stay on task, but if that’s what it takes, do it.
